Activities

There are two partners at this component: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary on the east side of the river and Patuxent River Park on the west side.

At Patuxent River Park, activities include natural history programs, nature hikes, river ecology boat tours, camping, boating and canoeing. The park offers fishing piers, hiking and horseback trails, canoe and kayak rentals, boat ramps, campgrounds, the Duvall Tool Museum, the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Driving Tour and a small visitor center

At the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary there is a visitor center with programs for schools, scouts and others; science camps; citizen based science investigations; hiking; canoeing; birding; and many volunteer opportunities.
