Interested in how structured, collaborative approaches to research unfold in the "real world"? Spring 2012 progress reports for National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS) Science Collaborative funded projects are now online. Reserve led teams from Alaska, California, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New York, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, and Texas are using a structured collaborative approach to work with stakeholders on a range of issues. These include freshwater allocation, bringing wetlands into blue carbon markets, oyster restoration, economic valuation of riparian buffer lands, mitigation of shoreline erosion, and the impacts of sea level rise. Submitted by project teams twice each year, these reports detail their progress in gathering data, meeting research objectives, reaching out to stakeholders, and soliciting feedback from potential intended users of their science. |
