Like a tide of awareness about the state our estuaries, National Estuaries Day rolls in every last Saturday on the month of September. This year National Estuaries Day will be celebrated September 29, 2012. There are a variety of ways to celebrate these critical coastal habitats. Your first stop should be to check out the variety of events happening across the country. One of the best ways to help celebrate estuaries is by volunteering at a NERR estuary day event or beach clean-up.
In in honor of Estuaries Day this year National Ocean Service (NOS) has been featuring information and educational tools from the NERRS using our “Estuaries Wednesday” social media effort.
