The 2012 NERRS/NERRA Annual Meeting will be November 27-30 at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, WV. Core staff from the reserves and from NOAA will develop long- and short-term plans, program strategies, and budgets for the National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS). The meeting also serves to integrate the program sectors (management, research, education, training, stewardship) and provide relevant, targeted information and training.
This year there are a variety of training opportunities, with a special emphasis on the Coastal Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment training. This 2-day training will be based on the "Scanning the Horizon: A Guide to Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment” and help participants understand how to design and interpret natural resource related climate data to help build resiliency and adaption in coastal environments. The training will focus on understanding the elements of vulnerability assessment using coastal habitats, ecosystems, and management issues as a platform for learning.
Registration for the 2012 meeting is now open. Participants may register by going to the Event Website and clicking on the Register Now button. Deadline for registration is Friday, October 19, 2012. For additional information about this year's Annual Meeting contact Bree Murphy.
