Soil Types
A survey completed in 1982, showed the soils of the reserve to consist of Sulfihemists-Upisanments association and the Naumberg-Crogham association with the reserve primarily being composed of the Sulfihemists-Upisanments association. The Naumberg-Crogham association occurs along the western fringes of the reserve and in a band just north of Eldridge Road.
Individual soil types in the reserve include - Sulfihemists, Upisanments-Dune land complex, Naumberg sand, Croghan loamy sand, Sebago peat, Saco mucky silt loam, Adams loamy sand series, colton gravely loamy coarse sand series, Rumney loam, Lyman-rock outcrop complex, beaches consisting of sandy, gravely cobbly coastal areas.
