School Programs
GTM Research Reserve staff-led school programs are conducted 10:00am-12:00pm on Tuesdays (7th grade "Learning in Florida's Environment" (LIFE) program, High School and college) GTM Research Reserve volunteer-led programs are conducted 10:00am-12:00pm on Mondays and Fridays (4th grade).
Other grades not listed are welcome to come for a self-guided visit on Thursdays. A GTM Research Reserve volunteer may be able to assist if available.
Teacher Workshops: Various workshops are available. (Teaching materials provided and in-service credits assigned.
General Public Programs
Environmental Education Center Guided Visit: Exhibit Docents will help you learn about the importance of the estuary and the GTM Reserve’s role in protecting our coastal resources. Examine live and replica inhabitants of our local estuary and watch an informative 20 minute video about the Reserve. Visit the Nature Store for books, GTM Reserve clothing, and artwork by local artists.
Self-Guided Visit – Environmental Education Center or Recreational Area: Visit the Environmental Education Center or hiking trails. Reserve volunteers may be available to assist your group. Trail maps and exhibit hall scavenger hunts are available for use. Groups larger than 10 are required to have reservations to help ensure a pleasant visit for all of our guests. Visit the Nature Store for books on natural and cultural history of the area, GTM Reserve clothing, and artwork by local artists.
Brown Bag Lunch Presentations: Bring your lunch to the Environmental Education Center on the first Friday of each month for a presentation by a GTM Reserve staff member or volunteer. A wide variety of topics are offered.
Nature walks/talks: Join GTM staff/volunteers on an exploratory walk through coastal habitats or search for a specific inhabitant of the ecosystem. Programs have included bird walks, beach or upland habitat discovery walks and many more!
