What is IOOS?
IOOS, or Integrated Ocean Observing System, is a nation-wide
organization of ocean and

coastal observations, data streams,
data management, and analysis. Its goal is to bring together
these elements from all sources - federal, state, and local -
to create synergy across programs. The ultimate
purpose is to improve understanding and
management of our coasts and our oceans.
The NERRS program, with its estuarine focus, offers a
unique set of data to IOOS. We collect one of the only
nation-wide coordinated sets of estuarine water quality and weather parameters, with real-time data capabilities growing every day.
